Job summary

NSL, part of Marston Holdings Ltd, is hiring an HGV Driver (Class 1) to join our frontline team. The role involves enforcing actions on untaxed vehicles on behalf of the DVLA, with training on high-tech equipment and adherence to legislation.

The ideal candidate holds a full UK driving licence (Class 1 HGV) and preferably a HIAB. Expect full-time, 42.5 hours per week, with opportunities to work across various locations and collaborate with Police, DVLA and other agencies.

Responsibilities

• Attend daily briefing and collect removal information and reports relevant to the day’s work.
• Ensure vehicle and equipment are serviceable; report faults to the Pound Manager.
• Inspect lifting/towing equipment and ensure tachograph is operating correctly.
• Check that recovery vehicle can safely remove vehicles; inform the pound manager of concerns.
• Perform safe removal of vehicles; take photographs and complete vehicle condition reports.
• Deliver vehicles to the pound, unload, take further photographs, and coordinate next tasks.
• Work with agencies (Police, DVLA, VOSA) when required.
• Handle public inquiries about enforcement actions; provide information packs.
• Be flexible in working hours and locations; take on other roles if needed.
• Presentable with high integrity and honesty.

Job description

HGV Driver - Class 1

We currently have over 4000 highly trained frontline colleagues and now due to continued growth we have opportunities available in our award-winning teams for anHGV Driver.

The successful candidate will be trained to use our high-tech equipment and carry out enforcement action on untaxed vehicles on behalf of the DVLA including the recovery of unlicensed vehicles. You will learn how to operate within the guidelines established in current legislation and procedures and ensure that all members of the public are treated equally and fairly.

***For this role, you must hold a full UK driving licence and a Class 1 HGV licence. A HIAB licence is desirable but not essential.**

This is a full-time, permanent position, working 42.5 hours per week.

What you’ll be doing

• Attends a daily briefing and collects all removal information and reports relevant to the day’s work.


• Ensures vehicle and equipment is serviceable and fit for purpose, reports all faults to the Pound Manager.


• Carries out a physical examination of all lifting and towing equipment, and ensures the digital tachograph is operating correctly.


• Checks to make sure the recovery vehicle is capable of removing the vehicles safely and informs the pound manager of any concerns.


• Carries out the safe removal of all vehicles, assigned either via the tablet p.c. or by telephone from the pound. Ensures all photographs required of the vehicle are taken and completes a vehicle condition report, contacts the pound to confirm removal and requests the Police are informed.


• Delivers the vehicles to the pound, unloads and takes further photographs. Requests next task from the office and repeats the process.


• Can often work with other agencies, when required including, Police, DVLA and VOSA.


• Deals with enquiries from the public regarding enforcement action and ensures the relevant information packs are available.


• Must be flexible in their attitude to working hours, locations and must be prepared to take on other roles, temporarily, as required by the operation.


• Be presentable and show high levels of personal integrity and honesty
