Job summary

NSL part of Marston Holdings Ltd in Leigh is hiring an HGV Driver to enforce on untaxed vehicles for DVLA. You will be trained on high-tech equipment and operate within current legislation, ensuring fair treatment. A Full UK Driving Licence (Class 1 HGV) is required; HIAB is desirable.

The role is full-time, 42.5 hours per week. You’ll perform lifting, towing, photography, and liaison with police and DVLA, with strong emphasis on safety, flexibility, and customer service.

Qualifications

• Full UK Driving Licence (Class 1 HGV); HIAB desirable but not essential.
• Excellent communication skills and customer focus.
• Self-motivated and able to work outdoors.
• Flexible with shifts and able to work on own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Attend daily briefing and collect removal information for the day.
• Ensure vehicle/equipment is serviceable and report faults.
• Inspect lifting/towing equipment and tachograph operation.
• Verify recovery vehicle safety and inform management of concerns.
• Safely remove vehicles and photograph, report removals to the police as needed.
• Deliver vehicles to pound, unload and photograph; request next task.
• Collaborate with agencies such as Police, DVLA, VOSA when required.
• Handle public enquiries about enforcement actions and provide packs.
• Be flexible with working hours/locations and take on other roles as needed.
• Presentable with high personal integrity and honesty.

Location: Leigh We currently have over 4000 highly trained frontline colleagues and now due to continued growth we have opportunities available in our award-winning teams for anHGV Driver. The successful candidate will be trained to use our high-tech equipment and carry out enforcement action on untaxed vehicles on behalf of the DVLA including the recovery of unlicensed vehicles. You will learn how to operate within the guidelines established in current legislation and procedures and ensure that all members of the public are treated equally and fairly. For this role you must hold a Full UK Driving Licence [Class 1HGV] + HIAB is desirable not essential This is a full time, permanent role working 42.5hours per week.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Attends a daily briefing and collects all removal information and reports relevant to the day’s work.
• Ensures vehicle and equipment is serviceable and fit for purpose, reports all faults to the Pound Manager.
• Carries out a physical examination of all lifting and towing equipment, and ensures the digital tachograph is operating correctly.
• Checks to make sure the recovery vehicle is capable of removing the vehicles safely and informs the pound manager of any concerns.
• Carries out the safe removal of all vehicles, assigned either via the tablet p.c. or by telephone from the pound. Ensures all photographs required of the vehicle are taken and completes a vehicle condition report, contacts the pound to confirm removal and requests the Police are informed.
• Delivers the vehicles to the pound, unloads and takes further photographs. Requests next task from the office and repeats the process.
• Can often work with other agencies, when required including, Police, DVLA and VOSA.
• Deals with enquiries from the public regarding enforcement action and ensures the relevant information packs are available.
• Must be flexible in their attitude to working hours, locations and must be prepared to take on other roles, temporarily, as required by the operation.
• Be presentable and show high levels of personal integrity and honesty
