Job description

Hours: 42.5 hours per week, 8.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday, with Saturday work on a rota basis.

Who we are: VMS Vehicle Hire Ltd, part of the VMS Automotive Group, offers Contract Hire & Fleet Management, Accident Management, Maintenance Services, transport refrigeration systems, air conditioning, and van conversions. We operate nationwide, with head office in Stevenage and an operations centre in Bury St Edmunds. Due to growth, we seek team members to provide outstanding service.

Job Requirements:

1. Responsible for vehicle delivery and collection to clients’ premises, based in Stevenage, with visits to vehicles off-site.
2. Maintain high standards of vehicle checking, cleaning, and preparation for resale, ensuring vehicles are parked securely.
3. Communicate effectively with the office and contribute to site targets.
4. Possess basic mechanical knowledge and respond to customer needs with care and attention.
5. Confident in driving various vehicle types, holding a full HGV license, driver’s card, and current CPC certification.
6. Strong customer care skills and good spoken English.

Key Tasks:

• Thoroughly check vehicles before delivery.
• Agree on vehicle condition with clients and complete relevant paperwork and photography.
• Coordinate delivery times and locations with clients.
• Manage vehicle returns and assist in the workshop and yard as needed.

Qualifications and Attributes:

• Valid HGV Licence, LGV Category C.
• Experience driving HGV vehicles.
• Clean driving licence, DIGI card, and CPC card.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent sense of direction and attention to detail.

Right to work documentation required for interview:

• Passport (with Gov.UK share code if non-UK passport).
• Driving licence, CPC card, Digi card.
• Proof of address (x2) or Birth Certificate and NIN.
