The Role

As a HGV Driver/Warehouse Operative, you will be responsible for transporting and delivering goods to customers safely and promptly, while providing a high level of professional front-line customer service.

Professional driving with knowledge of Road Traffic Law is essential. You must demonstrate consideration towards other road users and ensure compliance with DVSA regulations and vehicle security.

You will report directly to the Transport or Operations Manager.

Key Relationships

Internal: Transport or Operations Manager and branch staff.

External: Customers, the general public, other road users, DVSA, Traffic Police.

Key Responsibilities
Customer Service and Performance
  • Verify delivery instructions, plan routes, and meet schedules.
  • Load vehicles efficiently and in an organized manner.
  • Ensure safe delivery and respect customer premises.
  • Check orders upon delivery, ensure correctness, and note any issues.
  • Obtain signatures and report delivery issues.
  • Report road restrictions or problems to the Operations Manager.
  • Follow security procedures for premises, vehicles, stock, and cash.
  • Secure vehicles and report theft or security issues.
  • Support warehouse duties as needed.
  • Maintain professionalism with customers and colleagues.
  • Adjust delivery schedules as required.
  • Gather customer feedback and report sales leads.
  • Maintain high product knowledge and accurate documentation.
Compliance
  • Drive safely and legally at all times.
  • Follow EU regulations on tachograph, hours, and working time.
  • Inspect vehicles regularly and report issues.
  • Supervise loading, ensure safety, and adhere to health and safety regulations.
  • Operate equipment like Moffett Mounty fork truck safely (Stage 2).
  • Attend necessary training and manage own medicals.
  • Unload and put away goods safely, complete paperwork, and follow environmental policies.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other duties as reasonably requested.
Standard Terms, Conditions, and Benefits

Working hours: 42.5 hours/week

Overtime: Discretionary

Notice period: 1 month

Holiday entitlement: 23 days
