Job summary

Pertemps Black Country Perms are recruiting an HGV Diagnostics Technician for a Dudley-based workshop. The role focuses on advanced diagnostics and fault-finding across a modern fleet of heavy goods vehicles in a well-equipped facility.

You will diagnose electrical and electronic faults, interpret data using manufacturer tools, and perform servicing and repairs to manufacturer and DVSA standards. Excellent career prospects and ongoing training are offered.

Qualifications

• Experience diagnosing and fault-finding on HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Strong knowledge of electrical and electronic systems in heavy vehicles.
• Ability to interpret diagnostic data and work with manufacturer tools.

Responsibilities

• Carry out advanced diagnostics and fault-finding on HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults.
• Use manufacturer diagnostic equipment and software to identify issues quickly and accurately.
• Perform servicing, maintenance, and repairs in line with manufacturer and DVSA standards.
• Conduct inspections and roadworthiness checks.
• Complete repair documentation and workshop records accurately.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard.

HGV Diagnostics Technician

Location: Dudley, West Midlands

Pay Rate: £22.00 - £30.00 per hour (DOE)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:30pm

Our client, a well-established commercial vehicle maintenance provider in the Dudley area, is currently seeking an experienced HGV Diagnostics Technician to join their busy workshop team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician with strong diagnostic and fault-finding experience to work on a modern fleet of heavy goods vehicles in a professional and well-equipped environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out advanced diagnostics and fault-finding on HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults.
• Use manufacturer diagnostic equipment and software to identify issues quickly and accurately.
• Perform servicing, maintenance, and repairs in line with manufacturer and DVSA standards.
• Conduct inspections and roadworthiness checks.
• Complete repair documentation and workshop records accurately.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard.

Requirements

• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Proven experience working as an HGV Technician or Diagnostics Technician.
• Strong knowledge of commercial vehicle electrical and electronic systems.
• Experience using diagnostic tools and interpreting technical data.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
