Job summary

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding skills and electrical fault diagnosis.
• Good understanding of DVSA regulations and vehicle compliance.
• DVSA knowledge and repair experience with heavy vehicles.
• A full UK driving licence is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults.
• Perform routine inspections, safety checks, and preventative maintenance.
• Complete MOT preparation and ensure vehicles meet DVSA standards.
• Use diagnostic equipment to assist with fault finding and repairs.
• Accurately complete job cards, service records, and workshop documentation.
• Ensure all work is carried out safely and to a high standard.
• Work effectively both independently and as part of the workshop team.

Location: Dudley, West Midlands
Pay Rate: £22.00 - £30.00 per hour (DOE)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:30pm

Our client, a well-established commercial vehicle maintenance provider in the Dudley area, is currently seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join their busy workshop team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician to work on a modern fleet of heavy goods vehicles within a professional, well-equipped workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults.
• Perform routine inspections, safety checks, and preventative maintenance.
• Complete MOT preparation and ensure vehicles meet DVSA standards.

Requirements

• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Proven experience working as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, or Commercial Vehicle Technician.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience working on a range of heavy goods vehicles and trailers.
• Good understanding of DVSA regulations and vehicle compliance standards.
• Full UK driving licence preferred (Class 1 or Class 2 licence advantageous).
