Job summary

Lineage Logistics is seeking an HGV Class 2 Rigid Driver for our Peterborough depot. The role includes multi-drop deliveries on London routes, daily vehicle checks, and ensuring roadworthiness. You will support the Transport Manager and operate tail lift/pump truck equipment as required.

The position offers a Monday–Friday days pattern with average start times between 3am and 7am, with overtime paid after 39 hours. A permanent role with potential for development in a highly automated environment.

Qualifications

• At least 12 months Class 2 driving experience and a valid Class 2 license.
• Full valid Driving Licence and Digi-Tacho holder, DQC card holder and Driver CPC.
• Good driving skills and knowledge of current Road Transport Regulations.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
• Experience with tail lift and pump truck operations.
• Multi-drop experience.
• Comfort with London routes.

Responsibilities

• Support the Transport Manager to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Ensure vehicles are legal and roadworthy; complete daily checks and report defects.
• Carry out multi-drop deliveries in a timely and safe manner.
• Perform manual and pallet pump truck work as required.
• Drive safely in accordance with the law and tachograph rules.
• Ensure correct goods are loaded and secured before moving the vehicle.
• Check goods with customers and collect signatures.
• Be aware of vehicle inspection rota for servicing and MOT.
• Maintain DCPC training hours within the five-year period.

We are currently seeking an additional HGV Class 2 Rigid Driver at our Peterborough depot.

This role requires a driver who is comfortable driving the London routes.

Working hours:

Monday to Friday Days (Typical start times vary between 3am-7am, 10-12 hour days)

Hourly Rate:

£16.54 per hour paid weekly, any hours that are worked over 39 hours each week will be paid at time and a half.

About the role:

In this role you will complete varied tasks which include:

• Support and assist the Transport Manager to ensure all functions of the operation is running smoothly and efficiently.

• Ensure the vehicle is always legal and roadworthy - all daily checks are completed in line with the ‘Daily Vehicle Check Sheet’ and in line with the ‘Guide to maintaining road worthiness’. To ensure any vehicle defects are reported.

• Carry out multi-drop deliveries in a timely and safe manner.

• Complete manual and pallet pump truck work with certain drop offs.

• Drive the vehicle safely and in accordance with the law.

• Drive within tachograph law and driver hour limits.

• Ensure the correct goods have been loaded and are secure before moving the vehicle.

• Check goods off with Customers and obtain signature and print.

• Be aware of the vehicle inspection rota for servicing and MOT and bring to the Transport manager attention if necessary.

• To ensure that your DCPC periodic training hours are maintained and completed within the five‑year period.

What we are looking for:

• At least 12 months Class 2 driving experience & valid Class 2 license.

• Full valid Driving Licence and Digi‑Tacho holder, DQC card holder and Driver CPC.

• Good driving skills and knowledge of current Road Transport Regulations.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Numerical and focused on accuracy.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to operate tail lift and PPT. Tail lift/pump truck working daily.

• Someone comfortable driving the London routes.
