Restore Datashred in Exeter is hiring a HGV Class 2 Driver for secure collection, combining driving with hands-on manual tasks. You will visit client sites to collect confidential documents for secure transport, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and discretion.

The role involves regular lifting and driving, working Monday to Friday, with a salary of £36,300.11 and 45 hours per week. A full UK Class 2 licence and strong reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• Hold a full UK Class 2 driving licence.
• Confident with manual handling and physically demanding work.
• Good understanding of tachograph use and Working Time Directive.

Responsibilities

• Handle and move heavy sacks of paper and transport to the vehicle.
• Collect and transport a variety of waste streams including confidential paper and IT equipment.
• Work across client sites, transporting paper waste between collection points and stairs.
• Represent Restore Datashred professionally and deliver excellent customer service.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and complete defect sheets.
• Ensure all equipment for the day’s duties is loaded and secured.
• Review job sheets and plan routes effectively.
• Use the PDA to record daily collection activities and customer information.
• Ensure paperwork is completed for each job and hand in copies.
• Keep materials safe during loading, transport, and delivery.

Salary: £36,300.11
Hours a week: 45 hours, 06.00 - 16.00 demanding on business requirement's
Days of work: Monday to Friday (No Night Shifts)
Contract type: Permanent

This isn’t your typical driving role. As a HGV Class 2 Driver - Secure Collections Operative, you’ll combine professional driving with hands-on, physical work as part of our secure collections team. You’ll be visiting client sites, collecting confidential documents, and ensuring their safe and secure transport for destruction.
This role involves regular manual handling and lifting, so it’s well suited to someone who enjoys being active and takes pride in doing a job that keeps them moving throughout the day.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Handle and move heavy sacks of paper, emptying them into secure containers and transporting them to the vehicle
• Collect and transport a variety of waste streams, including confidential paper, IT equipment, WEEE, DMR and other secure materials
• Work across small & large customer sites, transporting paper waste between collection points, which may involve extended periods on your feet, long corridors, and stairs
• Represent Restore Datashred in a professional manner, delivering excellent customer service and maintaining positive client relationships
• Carry out daily vehicle checks, completing defect sheets and reporting any issues promptly
• Ensure all equipment required for the day’s duties is loaded and secured before leaving the depot
• Review job sheets and plan your route effectively
• Use the PDA to record daily collection activities and customer information
• Ensure all paperwork is completed for each job and securely hand in copies at the end of each shift
• Keep all materials safe and secure during loading, transport, and delivery

About you

• Hold a full UK Class 2 driving licence
• Confident with manual handling and physically demanding work
• Good understanding of tachograph use and the Working Time Directive, ensuring compliance with all driving and working hour regulations
• Professional and customer-focused, with strong communication skills
• Able to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times
• Reliable, organised, and proactive in getting the job done safely and efficiently
