Job summary

Great Bear is seeking experienced HGV Class 1 drivers for a permanent, full-time role based in Duckmanton. You will undertake safe, professional deliveries to customer premises and palletised haulage to regional distribution centres with backdoor tip work where needed.

The role operates 4 on, 4 off nights, with a 40.25-hour week and overtime paid. You will be part of a 24/7 operation delivering palletised goods nationwide, upholding high standards of service and safety.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid C+E licence.
• Prefer 6 months of HGV Class 1 driving experience.
• No more than 6 points on licence; no DD/DR convictions.
• Current DCPC and Tachograph cards held.
• Good understanding of Driver’s Hours and Working Time Directive rules.
• Ability to complete vehicle checks and report defects accurately.
• Commitment to on-site health and safety requirements.
• Excellent communication and professional approach.

Responsibilities

• Carry out safe, professional deliveries to customer premises.
• Complete palletised general haulage deliveries to Regional Distribution Centres, including backdoor tip deliveries.
• Support occasional tipping or multi-drop deliveries as required.
• Report to Transport team at shift start; communicate delays or issues promptly.
• Complete paperwork and ensure PODs signed and returned to Transport Office.
• Follow company policies on health, safety and hygiene standards.
• Manage working time per Road Transport Directive and tachograph rules.
• Perform daily vehicle checks and report defects.
• Take responsibility for unit and trailer, including temperature checks where required.
• Maintain professional customer service standards at all times.
