Job summary

Culina is recruiting permanent HGV Class 1 drivers for Penrith, supporting General Haulage with curtainside trailers to distribution centres and stores. Roles are full time with night shifts, typically starting 17:00–19:00, offering flexible patterns to fit availability.

Pay rates have increased to £15.80–£18.41 per hour depending on shift, with a £5 per shift meal allowance and a Benefits package including holiday, uniforms, training and life cover.

Qualifications

• Valid C+E Licence (with ideally 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience).
• No more than 6 points and no DD/DR convictions.
• DCPC & Tachograph cards valid.
• Understand Driver’s hours and WTD legislation.
• Vehicle checks and defect reporting experience.
• On-site health and safety compliance and strong communication.

Responsibilities

• General Haulage with Curtainside trailers to DCs and Stores.
• Store collections to load out to factories and DCs.
• Occasional store deliveries and loading/unloading cages.
• Complete vehicle checks and documentation.
• Maintain safety, compliance and professionalism.
• Coordinate with transport team for smooth operations.

Job Description

We are recruiting permanent HGV Class 1 drivers to join us at our operations in Penrith to support our General Haulage operation, completing store and RDC deliveries across the region. This role is ideal for a HGV driver who takes pride in safe driving, excellent customer service and dependable delivery standards.

The roles are full time, working on a permanent basis, with ideal shift patterns available on Nights below:

• Monday to Friday Nights

Shifts typically start between 17:00-19:00. We offer flexibility in shift patterns, so if these start dates and times don’t quite suit your availability, let us know what you’re looking for, we’ll do our best to accommodate your preferences.

Pay Rates

We have increased our pay rates, with rates now ranging from £15.80 to £18.41 per hour, depending on shift – giving you even more reason to build your driving career with us.

• Mon-Fri Nights - £15.80 per hour
• Saturday and Sunday Nights - £18.10 per hour
• Bank Holidays - £18.41 per hour.

On top of base salary our HGV Drivers will be entitled to £5 per shift tax-free meal allowance.

Driver Responsibilities

• General Haulage with Curtainside trailers, to Distribution Centres and Stores
• Collections from Stores to load out to Factories and Distribution Centres
• Supporting General work, including occasional store deliveries and requirement to load and unload cages
• Completing all necessary vehicle checks and documentation
• Maintaining high levels of safety, compliance, and professionalism
• Working closely with the transport team to ensure smooth operations
• Adhere to Driver's hours, WTD, and tachograph legislation.

Qualifications

• You should hold a valid C+E Licence and ideally have a minimum of 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience (We will consider New Pass Drivers)
• No more than 6 points and no DD/ DR Code convictions.
• Hold a current valid DCPC & Tacho cards.
• Understand and able to comply with Driver’s hours and WTD legislation.
• Able to understand and carry out necessary vehicle checks to ensure vehicle safety and able to report defects correctly.
• Should comply with on-site health and safety requirements.
• Excellent communication skills.
