Job summary

Stobart (Part of the Culina Group) is recruiting permanent HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our Carlisle depot, supporting our General Haulage operation with deliveries to RDCs, distribution centres and retail stores across the region.

This role requires safe driving, excellent customer service and high operational standards. Night shifts are permanent: Sunday-Thursday, Tuesday-Saturday or Friday-Monday, with starts between 16:00 and 19:00. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Valid C+E Licence is required.
• Ideally 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience; New Pass drivers considered.
• Current DCPC and Tachograph cards.
• Ability to carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects.
• Understand Drivers' Hours and WTD legislation and comply accordingly.
• Excellent communication skills and teamwork are essential.

Responsibilities

• Complete General Haulage deliveries using curtain-side trailers.
• Deliver to RDCs, distribution centres and retail stores.
• Collect loads from stores for onward delivery to factories and distribution centres.
• Support operational requirements including occasional loading/unloading of cages.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and complete associated documentation.
• Maintain high safety, compliance and professionalism standards.
• Work closely with Transport Team to ensure efficient fleet operation.
• Adhere to Drivers' Hours, WTD and Tachograph legislation at all times.

We are recruiting permanent HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our Carlisle depot, supporting our General Haulage operation with deliveries and collections to RDCs, distribution centres and retail stores across the region.

This is an excellent opportunity for professional drivers who take pride in safe driving, delivering excellent customer service and maintaining high operational standards.

Working as part of our transport team, your responsibilities will include:

• Completing General Haulage deliveries using curtain-side trailers.
• Delivering goods to RDCs, distribution centres and retail stores.
• Collecting loads from stores for onward delivery to factories and distribution centres.
• Supporting operational requirements, including occasional loading and unloading of cages.
• Carrying out daily vehicle checks and completing all associated documentation.
• Maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance and professionalism.
• Working closely with the Transport Team to ensure efficient operation of the fleet.
• Adhering to Drivers' Hours, WTD and Tachograph legislation at all times.

Shift Patterns

We have permanent full-time opportunities available on the following night shift patterns:

• Sunday to Thursday Nights
• Tuesday to Saturday Nights
• Friday to Monday Nights

Typical start times are between 16:00 and 19:00.

We offer flexibility wherever possible, so if these shift patterns or start times do not suit your availability, we'd still love to hear from you.

Weekend working may be required in line with business needs.

Pay & Benefits

Hourly Rates

• Monday to Friday Nights: £15.80 per hour
• Saturday & Sunday Nights: £18.10 per hour
• Bank Holidays: £18.41 per hour

Additional Benefits

• £5 tax-free meal allowance per shift.

Qualifications

• You should hold a valid C+E Licence and ideally have a minimum of 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience (We will consider New Pass Drivers)
• No more than 6 points and no DD/ DR Code convictions.
• Hold a current valid DCPC & Tacho cards.
• Understand and able to comply with Drivers hours and WTD legislation.
• Able to understand and carry out necessary vehicle checks to ensure vehicle safety and able to report defects correctly.
• Should comply with on-site health and safety requirements.
• Excellent communication skills.
