Job summary

Streamline Recruitment are recruiting HGV Class 1 (C+E) Drivers for a client based in South Ockendon, with day and night positions available. The role follows a regular Monday-to-Friday pattern on an established daily route, with 48 hours guaranteed per week.

Starting from South Ockendon, you will transport box trailers between sites and perform shunting duties at customer premises. A safety-conscious, reliable driver with a valid CPC and tachograph is required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Complete scheduled collections and deliveries on established daily routes.

• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects.
• Maintain tachograph records and other transport paperwork.
• Follow drivers' hours and HT health and safety standards.

HGV Class 1 (C+E) Driver - Days or Nights

Location: South Ockendon

Shift pattern: Monday to Friday

Guaranteed pay: 48 hours per week

Streamline Recruitment are currently recruiting HGV Class 1 (C+E) Drivers for a client based in South Ockendon, with both day and night positions available.

This role offers a regular Monday-to-Friday work pattern, completing an established daily route using box trailers. Working within a small team, you will be responsible for transporting trailers between sites and carrying out shunting duties at the customer's premises.

Pay and Hours

Days

• £19.50 per hour.
• Annual salary: £48,803.04.
• Monday-to-Friday contract with 48 hours' guaranteed pay per week.

Nights

• £21.00 per hour.
• Annual salary: £52,557.12.
• Monday-to-Friday contract with 48 hours' guaranteed pay per week.

Both shifts include a 45-minute unpaid break.

The Role

Starting from South Ockendon, you will pull a box trailer to two further destinations during your shift before returning to base. The route and duties will be consistent each day.

At the customer's site, you will be required to shunt vehicles as needed while waiting for your trailer to be loaded or before completing a trailer drop and swap. Once your trailer is ready, you will continue to London Gateway before returning to South Ockendon.

Day and night drivers work on a rotating trailer schedule, with each shift collecting and positioning trailers to support the following shift.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete scheduled collections, deliveries and trailer movements safely and efficiently.
• Operate Class 1 vehicles with box trailers along the established daily route.
• Carry out vehicle and trailer shunting at customer premises as required under the contract.
• Complete trailer drop-and-swap operations, ensuring safe coupling and uncoupling.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly.
• Complete transport paperwork and maintain accurate tachograph records.
• Follow drivers' hours, working time and road transport requirements.
• Adhere to HT health and safety standards and all customer site procedures.
• Communicate effectively with the transport team, customer staff and other drivers to support smooth shift handovers.
• Maintain a professional and courteous approach when representing the business.
• Support the wider team with additional reasonable duties when required, within your training and capabilities.

Requirements

• A valid HGV Class 1 licence, Category C+E.
• A valid Digital Tachograph Card.
• A valid Driver CPC qualification.
• A professional, reliable and safety-conscious approach.
• Willingness to carry out shunting duties as a routine part of the role.
• Good communication skills and a positive team attitude.
• Flexibility to support a small team with duties outside your usual driving tasks where required.
