Job summary

Polar Speed UPS is seeking a Class 1 Driver for day shifts in Preston. The role involves delivering pharmaceutical consignments to GP surgeries, pharmacies, hospitals and wholesalers, with a Monday–Friday 40-hour week and early start times.

You will manage scanning and loading, maintain temperature controls, and perform safety checks while upholding professional customer service. DBS check may be required.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Class 1 C&E licence, ideally with no more than 3 points.
• Minimum 2 years driving experience including motorways.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise.
• Team player mentality with ability to work on own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Scan packages/pallets into delivery vehicle.
• Ensure safe loading of consignments using equipment.
• Assist with loading/unloading deliveries.
• Deliver pharmaceutical consignments to GP surgeries, pharmacies, hospitals and wholesalers.
• Maintain vehicle temperature in transit.
• Report defects per defect reporting process.

Job Description:

CLASS 1 HGV DRIVER - DAYS

Polar Speed UPS, Unit 2 Belgrave Court, Caxton Road, Fullwood, Preston, PR2 9ZB

Monday - Friday - 40 hours per week - 6.30am start

£39,287 p/a, £18.89 per hour

Job Purpose and Key Responsibilities:

• Managing the scanning of packages or pallets to your delivery vehicle
• Ensuring the safe and secure loading of all consignments to your vehicle, using the appropriate equipment
• Assisting with the loading and unloading of deliveries
• Ensure vehicle is always kept at the correct temperature
• Conducting vehicle safety checks, inlcuding the refrigeration unit
• Maintaining the cleanliness of both cab and chambers
• Reporting all defects as per the defect reporting process
• Adherence to all legislation governing HGV driving in the UK & IRL
• Always demonstrating a professional and safe driving competency
• Excellent communication and customer service skills

• Delivering and collecting of pharmaceutical consignments to GP Surgeries, Retail Pharmacies, Hospitals and Wholesalers

Specialied Knoweldge and Requirements

• Must hold a Class 1 C&E category driving licence, ideally with no more than 3 points
• Minimum 2 years driving epxerience including motorways
• Previous relevant experience is advantageous
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise
• Team player mentality with ability to work on own initiative
• Appreciate the need for retaining confidentiality
• Build effetcive working relationships with customers, clients, colleagues and other departments across the network
