Job summary

UPS Polar Speed UPS in Preston is seeking a Class 1 HGV Driver – Days. You will work Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week starting at 6:30am, delivering pharmaceutical consignments to GP Surgeries, Retail Pharmacies, Hospitals and Wholesalers while keeping the vehicle at the correct temperature and performing safety checks.

Requires a Class 1 C&E licence (ideally with no more than 3 points) and at least 2 years of driving experience, good communication and customer service skills, and the ability

Qualifications

• Must hold a Class 1 C&E driving licence with ideally no more than 3 points.
• Minimum 2 years driving experience, including motorways.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks.

Responsibilities

• Manage scanning of packages/pallets to delivery vehicle.
• Ensure safe loading and keep consignments within temperature controls.
• Deliver and collect pharmaceutical shipments to GP surgeries, pharmacies, hospitals and wholesalers.
• Carry out vehicle safety checks and report defects as required.

Job Description:

CLASS 1 HGV DRIVER - DAYS

Polar Speed UPS, Unit 2 Belgrave Court, Caxton Road, Fullwood, Preston, PR2 9ZB

Monday - Friday - 40 hours per week - 6.30am start

£39,287 p/a, £18.89 per hour

Job Purpose and Key Responsibilities:

Managing the scanning of packages or pallets to your delivery vehicle

Ensuring the safe and secure loading of all consignments to your vehicle, using the appropriate equipment

Assisting with the loading and unloading of deliveries

Ensure vehicle is always kept at the correct temperature

Conducting vehicle safety checks, inlcuding the refrigeration unit

Maintaining the cleanliness of both cab and chambers

Reporting all defects as per the defect reporting process

Adherence to all legislation governing HGV driving in the UK & IRL

Always demonstrating a professional and safe driving competency

Excellent communication and customer service skills

Specialied Knoweldge and Requirements

Must hold a Class 1 C&E category driving licence, ideally with no more than 3 points

Previous relevant experience is advantageous

Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise
