Job Description

Shifts:

• Wednesday-Saturday 14:00-18:00 start window.
• Wednesday-Saturday 04:00-08:00 start window.
• Sunday-Wednesday 04:00-08:00 start window.

Salary:

• £14.61 per hour plus £1.50 per hour Nights allowance if applicable.

The role will include but not be limited to the following responsibilities:

• Report to the Transport Coordinator at the start of each shift.
• Ensure correct and thorough completion of paperwork.
• Observe and adhere to company rules and procedures, including health, safety, and hygiene standards.
• Maintain a good working knowledge of operations within the transport department.
• Maintain a high standard of behaviour and appearance.
• Manage own working time effectively in line with the Road Transport Directive.
• Adhere to tachograph rules and regulations at all times.
• Complete daily vehicle checks in accordance with company procedures.
• Be responsible for unit and trailer, including temperature checks.
• Make deliveries to customers’ premises professionally.
• Report any issues regarding delivery times, delays, or load discrepancies immediately.
• Ensure proof of deliveries (PODs) are signed and returned to the Transport Office after each delivery.
• Maintain regular communication with the Transport Office / Customer Services.
• Follow site procedures at each delivery point.
• Complete defect reports accurately when required.
• Achieve and maintain fuel efficiency targets set by the business.

Qualifications

• Class 1 UK driving experience.
• Possession of LGV Class C+E Licence, CPC, and a valid Tacho card.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently.
• Adaptable and methodical approach to work and training.
• Conscientious and reliable.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
• Prioritise workload effectively to meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of Road Transport Directive and drivers’ hours regulations.
