Qualifications

Company Description

Part of the Culina Group, Great Bear is a leading 3rd party UK logistics business providing nationwide dedicated and shared user warehousing and distribution solutions for international blue chip clients. We operate in over 7 million sq. ft. of warehousing and operate a large modern commercial vehicle fleet, coupled with an extensive added value service offering.

We are now recruiting for Class 1 Drivers to join us on Nights at Great Bear Heywood on a Permanent and Full time basis.

Job Description

Shifts:

  • Wednesday-Saturday 14:00pm-18:00pm start window.
  • Wednesday-Saturday - 04:00am-08:00am start window.
  • Sunday-Wednesday - 04:00am-08:00am start window.

Salary:

  • £14.61 per hour plus £1.50 per hour Nights allowance if applicable.

The role will include but is not limited to the following:

  • Report to the Transport Coordinator at the start of shift
  • Ensure correct and thorough completion of paperwork
  • Observe and adhere to company rules and procedures, including all aspects of health, safety and hygiene
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of operations within the transport department
  • Maintain a high standard of behaviour and appearance
  • Effectively manage own working time in line with the Road Transport Directive
  • Adhere to tachograph rules and regulations at all times
  • Ensure daily vehicle checks are completed in line with company procedure
  • Responsible for unit and trailer, including temperature checks
  • Make deliveries to customers’ premises, acting in a professional manner at all times
  • Immediately report any problems regarding delivery arrival times, delays or discrepancies with loads
  • Ensure proof of deliveries (PODs) are signed and returned to the Transport Office after delivery
  • Ensure regular communication with the Transport Office / Customer Services
  • Observe and adhere to site procedures at each delivery point
  • Ensure correct completion of a defect report as and when required.
  • Achieve and succeed fuel efficiency targets set by the business
Qualifications
  • Class 1 UK experience.
  • Possession of LGV Class C+E Licence, CPC and valid Tacho card.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work without direct supervision
  • Adaptable and methodical approach to work/training
  • Conscientious and reliable
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure
  • Effectively prioritise workload in order to meet set deadlines
  • Knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers’ hours
