Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking HGV Class 1 (C+E) drivers for timber delivery work to Wickes stores and builders merchants. This full-time temporary role covers AM and PM runs with early starts and night shifts from Hull or Melton, returning to Stoke.

Load restraint and curtainside trailers are involved; loading/unloading is performed by site staff. You must hold a valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence, CPC and Tachograph cards, with up to 6 penalty points and a minimum of six months

• Digital Tachograph Card & CPC Card (in date).
• Maximum 6 penalty points (no DR, DG, DD codes – none active or expired).
• Minimum 6 months licence holding.
• Minimum 3 months driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver timber products to Wickes Stores and Builders Merchants.
• Strapping loads; loading/unloading handled by stores/sites.
• Night deliveries: collections from Hull/Bolton Melton and return to Stoke (as described).
• Operate curtainside trailers and ensure load securement.

Job description

As an HGV Class 1 Driver based in Stoke-on-Trent, you will deliver timber products using curtainside trailers. This full-time, temporary role involves transporting goods to Wickes stores and builders' merchants, with shifts available from 04:00 to 08:00 Monday to Friday. You are responsible for strapping loads, while store staff handle all loading and unloading. Night shifts are also available, collecting from Hull or Melton and returning to Stoke, starting between 17:00 and 19:00 Sunday to Friday. The hourly rate ranges from £17.69 to £19.54. Key skills include a valid C+E licence and the ability to secure loads properly.

Night Drivers

Collections form RMS Hull and BSW Melton Delivering product back into BSW Stoke Strapping of loads No loading or unloading (all done by the sites). Start times: 17.00 – 19.00hrs Sunday to Thursday Minimum 8 hours guaranteed pay per shift Breaks 45-minute deduction for Tacho vehicles
