Job summary

Fowler Welch in Spalding is seeking professional HGV Class 1 Drivers to support our Chilled operation and deliver to key retail customers across the UK. You will carry out safe, professional deliveries and operate refrigerated articulated vehicles.

This permanent, full-time role emphasises safe driving, high service standards and reliability, with shifts including weekend and 4 on 4 off patterns as detailed in the job spec.

Qualifications

• Valid C+E Licence required.
• New Pass Drivers considered.
• No more than 6 points and no DD/ DR convictions.
• DCPC & Tachograph cards required.
• Understand drivers hours and WTD legislation.
• Carry out vehicle checks and report defects.

Responsibilities

• Carry out safe, professional deliveries to customer premises across the UK.
• Operate refrigerated articulated vehicles.
• Complete nationwide deliveries of palletised goods to regional centres and sites.
• Report delays or load discrepancies to Transport team.
• Complete paperwork and obtain PODs.
• Follow health & safety and hygiene standards.
• Manage working time in line with regulations.
• Conduct daily vehicle checks and report defects.

Were looking for professional HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our Fowler Welch team in Spalding, supporting our Chilled operation and delivering to key retail customers across the UK.

This is a permanent role offering full-time stability for HGV Class 1 drivers who will be responsible for RDC, Farms and Packhouse deliveries. This role is ideal for a HGV driver who takes pride in safe driving, excellent customer service and dependable delivery standards. Youll be joining a supportive transport team where safe driving, reliable service and high professional standards are valued every day.

Shift Patterns-

• Saturday-Tuesday Start time 21:00pm-23:00pm
• 4on4off- Start time 21:00pm-23:00pm
• Saturday- Start time Tuesday 23:00pm-01:00am
• 4on4off Start time 23:00pm-01:00am
• Sunday-Wednesday Start time 01:00am-02:00am
• 4on4off- Start time 01:00am-02:00am

Tramping-

• Friday-Monday Start time 22:00pm-00:01pm
• 4on4off- Start time 22:00pm-00:01pm
• 4on4off 00:01pm-02:00am

What you'll be doing:

• Carry out safe, professional deliveries to customer premises across the UK.
• Operating refrigerated articulated vehicles
• Complete nationwide deliveries of palletised goods to Regional Distribution Centres, Farms and Packhouses
• Report to the Transport team at the start of each shift and keep them updated on delays, delivery issues or load discrepancies.
• Complete all paperwork accurately and ensure PODs are signed and returned to the Transport Office.
• Follow company procedures, including health, safety and hygiene standards.
• Manage your working time in line with the Road Transport Directive and tachograph rules.
• Complete daily vehicle checks and report defects correctly and take responsibility for your unit and trailer, including temperature checks where required.
• Maintain a professional standard of behaviour, appearance and customer service at all times.

Job requirements

• You should hold a valid C+E Licence
• Previous Class 1 Driving Experience is advantageous however we will consider New Pass Drivers
• No more than 6 points and no DD/ DR Code convictions.
• Hold a current valid DCPC & Tacho cards.
• Understand and able to comply with Drivers hours and WTD legislation.
• Able to understand and carry out necessary vehicle checks to ensure vehicle safety and able to report defects correctly.
• Should comply with on-site health and safety requirements.
• Excellent communication skills.
