Job summary

Commonwealth War Graves Commission is seeking a skilled Stonemason to join the specialist Works Team. You will repair, conserve and maintain war graves and memorials, primarily across London and the South East.

The role involves outdoor, hands-on work, travel to various locations, and occasional overnight stays. NVQ Level 2 in Stonemasonry or equivalent and driving licence are required, with ongoing training and a generous benefits package.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Stonemasonry (or equivalent)
• Significant practical experience in stonemasonry, stone repair or general building works
• Experience handling, repairing and conserving stone structures to a high standard
• Full UK driving licence, ideally comfortable driving up to 3.5 tons
• Good knowledge of health and safety practices
• Experience working independently and within small teams
• Strong attention to detail and pride in producing quality workmanship
• Genuine interest in heritage conservation and preserving important sites

Responsibilities

• Repair, conservation and structural maintenance of war graves, memorials and stone monuments across London and the South East
• Work independently and as part of a skilled team
• Travel to various locations and work outdoors, sometimes overnight on projects
