Job summary

The National Trust is seeking a proactive Project Manager to lead the Keys to the Castle project at Bodiam Castle, East Sussex, working 22.5 hours per week on a fixed-term contract until March 2027. You’ll collaborate with curation, experience development, gardens, and community teams to deliver improved visitor experiences.

Ideally you’ll be based in Bodiam or another LSE hub, with flexible on-site and travel arrangements. Interview date is set for September 18, 2026.

Qualifications

  • Evidence of strong project management skills delivering projects to scope, time and quality.
  • Track record in grant-funded heritage projects.
  • Experience managing budgets, costs and contracts.
  • Understanding of project life-cycles and governance.
  • Excellent communication and ability to motivate teams.
  • Ability to manage sponsor, client and stakeholder relationships.
  • Team player with willingness to share learning.
  • Proficient with MS Office and project software.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the critical path to deliver the Keys to the Castle project.
  • Oversee budgets, contracts, communications and reporting.
  • Coordinate with specialists across curation, experience development, gardens, community, participation and volunteering.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with partners and the community.
  • Work with the Project Sponsor, Client, Grants Specialist and Bodiam team to ensure delivery.
