Job summary

English Heritage is seeking a Food and Beverage Manager for Framlingham Castle to lead the café team in a 36-hour weekly, full-time role on site. You will drive sales, manage stock and staff development, and ensure high standards of food safety and guest experience.

You will plan menus, oversee daily operations, and collaborate with stakeholders to support English Heritage’s mission and member engagement. This site-based role requires leadership and a passion for heritage hospitality.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a food & beverage operation.
• Experience leading a team to deliver high standards.
• Experience generating profit by meeting revenue targets and controlling costs.
• Experience working to HACCP, Food Safety, allergen and labelling legislation; strong health and safety understanding.
• Effective communicator capable of representing the charity.
• Commitment to continuous personal development.
• Experience in stakeholder management.
• A Level 2/3 Food Hygiene qualification and a personal licence.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train and develop your team to deliver service standards and drive sales.
• Plan and schedule shifts with costed rotas within budget.
• Contribute to budget setting and monitor income/ expenditure to identify savings.
• Manage stock, wastage, stocktakes and cash handling with EPOS records.
• Maintain HACCP, allergen management and COSHH compliance; keep records up to date.
• Oversee food & beverage activity across locations and develop seasonal menus.
• Lead the team to deliver an exceptional visitor experience and support English Heritage membership recruitment.
