Job summary

Quantum Scholars are seeking a compassionate Secondary Outreach Tutor to provide personalised one-to-one educational and pastoral support to young people across Herefordshire. This in-person role involves home and community settings, with sessions tailored to SEND/SEMH needs and barriers to learning.

You will work with learners aged 11–16, delivering tuition, mentoring, confidence-building and social-emotional development while aligning with safeguarding procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience working with secondary-aged children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
• Experience providing one-to-one educational, pastoral or mentoring support.
• Experience supporting learners who may have barriers to mainstream education.
• Experience working with challenging behaviour would be highly desirable.
• Experience in a school, tutoring, Alternative Provision, EOTAS, youth work, mentoring or similar setting.

Responsibilities

• Providing personalised one-to-one tuition and mentoring to secondary-aged learners.
• Supporting young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
• Delivering EOTAS and Alternative Provision support where appropriate.
• Supporting core subjects including English, Maths and Science, depending on your subject specialism.
• Adapting lessons and activities to meet individual learning needs.
• Supporting learners who may be unable to access mainstream education.
• Building positive, trusting relationships with young people.
• Following safeguarding procedures and promoting the welfare of the young person.
