Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Level 3 qualified Vehicle Technician for a full-time role in the North West Hub Workshop. You will perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on a range of vehicles in a modern workshop, with a defined night shift pattern and attractive benefits.

The role offers a base salary plus night shift allowance, a welcome bonus potential, pension, training, and progression opportunities. You will need a full UK licence and your own toolkit to hit the ground running.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified to Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent.
• Experience as Vehicle Technician on a wide range of vehicles (LCV/HGV).
• Valid UK driving licence, preferably HGV with trailer experience.
• Flexible to service demands and shift rota.
• Own toolkit for standard repairs.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on vehicles, trailers and equipment.
• Work in a modern workshop using specialist tooling and your own tools.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship and safety.

Working Hours: Full time - 39.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday 21:30 - 06:00)

• You’ll perform a full range of inspections, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment.

LCV-HGV training program. Royal Mail maintains a range of vans/trucks and trailers and we welcome applications from those willing to develop their skills. If your working background is mainly in the light vehicle sector we will provide inhouse and external training to help develop your career in the HGV industry.

A Bit About You

• Qualified mechanic: you’re fully qualified to an advanced level (Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent). You’ve got your own toolkit for standard repairs.


• Varied vehicle experience: Proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV / HGV.


• Valid UK driving licence: You hold a full manual UK driving licence, preferably an HGV licence with trailer experience.


• High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.


• Flexible to service demands: you’re able to work on a flexible shift rota. You’re always willing to support your team where necessary.
