Job summary

MTC Northwest Ltd, Knowsley-based, is seeking an HG Technician for on-site work in Prescot. You will diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, service vehicles, and perform repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, steering and suspension.

You’ll maintain documentation in service records and liaise with the service team to ensure safe, timely turnaround. Strong heavy vehicle skills and experience with diagnostic tools are required; NVQ/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent is highly beneficial.

Qualifications

• Strong heavy vehicle mechanical skills including diagnosis, repair and maintenance.
• Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and workshop technology.
• Knowledge of vehicle safety standards and MOT preparation.
• Ability to read technical manuals and wiring diagrams.
• Good communication and teamwork with attention to detail.
• NVQ/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent is highly beneficial.
• Experience in a commercial vehicle workshop or dealership is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in HG vehicles.
• Carry out scheduled servicing and inspections.
• Complete repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, steering and suspension.
• Conduct safety checks and prepare vehicles for MOT tests.
• Document work accurately in job cards and service records.
• Communicate with customers or service advisors when needed.
