Overview

Do you want to join the largest fleet operator in the UK? Are you a vehicle technician who is looking for a fresh challenge and would like experience working in a commercial vehicle environment?

We are now recruiting Vehicle Technicians at Swindon Workshop on a Permanent contract, with the potential to earn up to £70k including overtime.

Responsibilities
  • Perform a full range of inspections, diagnosis, maintenance and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers and mechanical equipment operated by Royal Mail Group.
  • Work as part of a team to maintain and repair a large fleet, ensuring vehicles are ready for service and meet safety standards.
  • Utilise personal toolkit for routine maintenance and repairs of light/heavy vehicles (as applicable), with specialist tooling and equipment provided in the workshop.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, pride in workmanship, and willingness to go the extra mile to ensure quality and efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Fully qualified to at least advanced level (IMI Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle maintenance & repair or an equivalent qualification).
  • Proven experience (via CV) of working on a wide range of vehicles (e.g., LCV/LGV).
  • Full manual driving licence (LGV preferred with trailer experience).
Working Hours and Compensation

Working Hours: Full time - 39.5 hours per week (rotating shift pattern).

Shift pattern example: Week 1: 06:00 - 14:30; Week 2: 12:30 - 21:00 and Friday 10:30 - 19:00. You will be required to work 1 in 3 Saturdays (with a weekday day off).

Salary: £39,715 per annum plus a shift allowance of £70.06 per week for the 12:30 - 21:00 shift. A weekend attendance supplement for Saturdays (£52.10 per attendance) is applicable.

The Role

With a fleet of over 49,000 vehicles, maintaining our vehicles is a real team effort. You will have the opportunity to work on a range of makes and models of vehicle and join Royal Mail as a Vehicle Technician.

We are looking for professional vehicle technicians to perform a full range of inspections, diagnosis, maintenance and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers and mechanical equipment operated by Royal Mail Group. As a team player who takes pride in their work, you\'ll be prepared to go the extra mile to ensure the job is done effectively.

As an experienced technician you will have your own personal toolkit for routine maintenance and repair of light/heavy (delete as applicable) vehicles. Specialist tooling and equipment will be provided for common use by everyone within the workshop.

Successful candidates must be fully qualified to at least advanced level (IMI Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle maintenance & repair or an equivalent qualification) and have proven experience of working on a wide range of vehicles (e.g., LCV/LGV). A full manual driving licence is required (LGV preferred with trailer experience).
