Government Recruitment Service in Aylesbury is seeking a Heavy Vehicle Technical Officer to assess complex vehicle applications and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. You will identify risks, resolve operational challenges, and deliver high-quality customer service within a busy technical environment.

The team ensures heavy vehicles meet statutory testing and approval requirements, handling first tests, conversions, and type-approved vehicles, and providing expert technical advice.

Aufgaben

• Provide professional assessment of heavy vehicle statutory test applications for both first test and vehicle conversion, checking reports and supporting documentation, ensuring compliance.
• Undertake assessment of applications of approved vehicles via the ECWVTA teams.
• Provide technical support to non-technical processing teams and act as an advisory service to front line staff, operators, manufacturers, trade organisations, other agencies as well as the public on DVSA and related services.
• Investigate possible solutions to solve issues or mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with the Vehicle Policy Team on new initiatives and developing new requirements and standards, including regulatory changes or clarifications in publications.
• Communicate with internal and external customers to ensure understanding of requirements and deliver concise responses via technical inbox
• Provide support to the Heavy Vehicle Processing Manager, representing DVSA at trade events and carry out ad hoc related tasks.
• Maintain relevant databases as required.
