Job summary

CLdN is seeking a Terminal Supervisor for the Heavy Lift Department in Purfleet to oversee daily operations, optimise labour, and ensure a safe, compliant terminal environment. The role involves leading a skilled team, maintaining records, and driving improvements in service and performance.

The position requires experience in supervision within operational settings, IOSH Supervisory qualification, and strong IT and communication skills, with flexibility for shift work, weekends, and overtime as

Qualifications

• Proactive Health & Safety culture and adherence to policies.
• Previous supervisory experience in an operational environment.
• Experience in container/port/logistics operations desirable.
• IOSH Supervisory qualification or equivalent.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritise workloads, coordinate resources and meet deadlines.
• Good IT skills including Microsoft Office and operations management systems.
• Flexible working hours including shift work, weekends and overtime when required.
• Self-motivated with the ability to lead and motivate a team.

Responsibilities

• Ensure smooth day-to-day operation of the department.
• Manage labour movement to maintain a flexible, skilled workforce.
• Promote and uphold Health & Safety practices and procedures.
• Lead by example to maintain a safe terminal environment.
• Conduct audits of safety procedures and incidents.
• Review accidents and incidents to implement preventative measures.
• Oversee incoming volumes and space on the terminal.
• Maintain accurate records of operations as requested.
• Assess service levels and recommend improvements in operations.
• Participate in regular meetings with the Terminal Operations Manager and other Supervisors.
• Support KPI achievement and propose improvement ideas.
• Maintain knowledge of HR policies and administrative tasks.
