Job summary

Peel Ports Logistics Limited in Barrow-upon-Humber seeks a General Manager to lead Humber Bulk Terminal, delivering strong leadership, P&L accountability and commercial performance. The role requires driving strategy, EH&S and customer service excellence while building key relationships to support growth.

It also involves guiding capital investment programmes for the terminal’s long-term development and collaborating with wider teams to meet operational requirements.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial understanding of the ports, maritime, transport and logistics sector.
• Experience within port, terminal or bulk handling operations.
• Solid financial awareness including revenue delivery, cost control, budget management and P&L accountability.
• Proven leadership experience within an operational management role.
• Excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholder groups.
• Collaborative, team-focused mindset with commitment to improvement and development.
• IOSH Managing Safely certification is essential.
• A full, valid driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide strong leadership and account for the terminal’s financial performance (revenue, P&L, budget ownership).
• Ensure the terminal operates efficiently, meeting revenue and EBITDA targets.
• Drive the terminal strategy with high EH&S standards, operational excellence and customer service.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships to support reliable service delivery and growth.
• Collaborate with wider teams to plan and deliver capital investment programmes for long-term development.
