Job summary

EMED Group is seeking a Controller/Planner in Sheffield to plan and control a high-volume transport operation for patient journeys. You will allocate patients to vehicle types and crews based on mobility and safety needs, and collaborate with hospital staff to optimise utilisation and KPI performance.

The role emphasizes real-time demand-capacity matching, scheduling, and effective liaison with external partners to ensure on-time arrivals and efficient returns.

Qualifications

• Experience in regulated, time-critical operational environment.
• Desirable experience in logistics/control/route planning or analytical roles.
• Desirable experience working to time-critical KPIs/service level targets and using operational systems to monitor performance.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills gained from experience dealing with customers or the public.
• Commitment to delivering a high-quality, customer-focused service.

Responsibilities

• Check and plan daily and future bookings to ensure correct resourcing and inform sub-contractors, taxi and volunteers where applicable.
• Dispatch and manage operational crews to ensure timely collection and delivery of patients and achieve contractual targets.
• Receive accurate requests for patient transport and queries regarding journeys, ensuring compliance with procedures.
• Perform general clerical duties including data input and ad-hoc invoicing.
• Maintain accurate patient records and uphold good system housekeeping.
• Maintain and improve service quality offered to patients and customers.
• Liaise with agencies such as GPs, Nursing Homes, Hospital Clinics and Wards.
• Maintain end-to-end journey flow, prioritise work and re-plan in real time to minimise KPI impact.
