Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Specialist Healthcare Science Practitioner to join the Cell Culture Hub. The role involves day-to-day operational duties, supervising the section, and contributing to the analysis of diverse samples from a broad geographic area.

The successful candidate will engage in wet work (tissue culture), analytical tasks, and training responsibilities, supporting high-quality patient-focused service within a major NHS acute teaching Trust.

Qualifications

• BSc in a relevant discipline.
• Postgraduate diploma or extensive relevant laboratory experience demonstrating equivalent level of knowledge.
• Participation in continuing professional development.

Responsibilities

• To supervise/undertake the processing of pathological specimens for screening, diagnostic and monitoring purposes.
• To provide accurate, timely and appropriate analytical data.
• To deliver a high-quality service that meets the needs of the patients and service users.
• To manage training and education of all grades of staff within the section.
• To liaise with other healthcare professionals to develop and maximise the effectiveness of the service.
