Job summary

The Harbour Hospital in Poole, part of Circle Health Group, is seeking a Healthcare Assistant to join the Wards team on a bank basis. You will support patients during busy periods and cover for annual leave.

This role is on-site, requires a caring approach, good communication, and the ability to follow instructions. Training is provided; duties include personal care, nutrition support, and basic observations.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a care or health support role.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and escalations appropriately.
• Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
• Physically able to undertake moving and handling tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs.
• Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, recording intake when appropriate.
• Carry out and record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature (after training).
• Report concerns about a patient's condition promptly to the Registered Nurse or clinician.
• Record care and observations on documentation systems or electronic health records.
• Follow infection prevention and control procedures, including hand hygiene and PPE.

We have an opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join their team of staff in theWards department.

This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.

Duties of this role include:

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs, respecting their preferences and dignity.
• Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
• Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).
• Report any concerns about a patient's condition or wellbeing promptly to the Registered Nurse or relevant clinician.
• Record care provided and patient observations clearly and accurately on appropriate documentation systems or electronic health records.
• Follow all infection prevention and control procedures, including hand hygiene, PPE use, and environmental cleaning standards.
