Job summary

Circle Health Group’s Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle is looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join the Pre Assessment team. The role is full-time (37.5 hours) with a flexible shift pattern, including night duty rotas.

Salary is up to £25,000 per year depending on experience, training and qualifications. You will work with nurses, doctors and therapists to support safe patient care, providing personal care, nutritional support and basic clinical assistance, with extensive employee benefits on

Qualifications

• Experience in care or health support roles is desirable.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and escalate concerns appropriately.
• Basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
• Physically capable of moving and handling tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, dressing and mobility needs.
• Support eating and nutritional needs and document intake.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives.
• Record routine observations (BP, pulse, resp rate, temp, SpO2, glucose) after training.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas and assist with basic procedures.

The Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle Is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

We have an opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join their team of staff in thePre Assessment department.

This is a full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required tocover a flexible shift pattern. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the wards night duty rota.

Duties of this role include:

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs, respecting their preferences and dignity.
• Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives, creating a caring and safe environment.
• Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).
• Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care setup, assisting with catheter care, pressure area prevention, and mobility aids.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds, and equipment in readiness for patient use.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

• Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary).
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and elevate concerns appropriately.
• Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
• Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality procedures.
