Job summary

Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust seeks a compassionate Care Support Worker for Trinity Ward, Ripon Community Hospital. The role requires flexibility to work across a 24-hour shift pattern in a busy rehabilitation ward with palliative beds.

Experience in a caring environment is preferred and you will help provide excellent patient care in a friendly team, contributing to the Trust’s values of kindness and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Following instructions, assist with moving, turning and positioning dependent patients using correct equipment.
• Assist with care for pressure areas and use pressure-relieving devices appropriately.
• Assist the patient with personal hygiene, maintaining privacy and independence.
• Assist with feeding and meal preparation, helping patients to order meals and keep fluid intake and records.
• Assist patients to dress and undress.
• Assist with toileting and escorting to and from the toilet.
• Make beds and strip bed linen.
• Assist in care of terminally ill patients and with Last Offices.
• Assist with specimen collection following instruction.
• Observe and apply infection control policies and standard precautions.

Trinity ward is a 19-bedded ward caring for patients requiring rehabilitation and includes 2 palliative care beds. We are seeking a compassionate individual to provide excellent care in a busy and rewarding environment. The role will require flexibility in working a range of shifts over a 24 hour period.

Responsibilities

• Following instructions, assisting with moving, turning and positioning the dependent patient, having knowledge of the correct use of moving and handling equipment.
• Assisting with care given to pressure areas of patients and the appropriate use of pressure relieving devices.
• Assisting the patient with their personal hygiene needs, ensuring privacy and dignity is maintained and promoting independence.
• Assistance with feeding patients and preparing patients prior to meals, including assisting patients to order their meals from the menus. Assisting patients to maintain adequate oral fluid intake and accurate record keeping.
• Assisting patients to dress and undress.
• Assisting with toileting and escorting patients to and from the toilet
• Making beds, including stripping of bed linen
• Assisting in the care of terminally ill patient and with the performance of the Last Offices
• Assist in the collection of specimens following appropriate instruction.
• Using relevant policies and procedures including infection control and the use of standard precautions when undertaking patient
