Job summary

Circle Health Group in Northampton is recruiting a Healthcare Assistant to join the Theatre team on a 37.5-hour, permanent contract. Salary £24,947 per year.

You will assist with patient care, support with personal hygiene, nutrition, and mobility, and help maintain a safe and comfortable environment. The role requires good communication, compassion, and the ability to follow instructions; NVQ Health and Social Care level 2/3 is desirable.

Qualifications

• Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care and mobility needs.
• Help patients with eating, drinking and nutritional support, including documenting intake.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives.
• Record routine observations such as BP, pulse, resp rate, temp, SpO2, glucose (after training).
• Support basic clinical procedures like wound care setup and catheter care.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas and equipment for patient use.
• Collaborate with nurses, doctors, therapists and admin teams to support patient care.

We have an opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join their team of staff in theTheatre department.

This is a full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required tocover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties of this role include:

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs, respecting their preferences and dignity.
• Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives, creating a caring and safe environment.
• Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).
• Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care setup, assisting with catheter care, pressure area prevention, and mobility aids.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds, and equipment in readiness for patient use.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

• Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary).
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and escalated concerns appropriately.
• Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
• Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality procedures.
