Job summary

Leeds City Medical Practice is seeking a Healthcare Assistant to join the Nursing Team. The role involves conducting health checks, ECGs, venepuncture, blood pressure monitoring, and stock duties under the Nurse Manager, with opportunities to progress to Senior HCA after accredited training.

Recent Primary Care experience is essential; a car with UK driving licence is required for home visits. Availability on Thursdays and Fridays is needed. Training and supervision are provided.

Qualifications

• Recent experience in a similar role in a Primary Care setting.
• car owner with current UK driving licence and business-use insurance (if required for home visits)
• Availability to work Thursdays and Fridays

Responsibilities

• Carry out new patient health checks and make referrals to the GP.
• Take and upload ECGs for immediate GP review.
• Perform venepuncture.
• Monitor blood pressure and review hypertension and pre-diabetes under practice protocol, referring for medication review.
• Carry out urinalysis and Amber Drugs blood monitoring under practice protocol.
• Support weight management and give lifestyle and basic smoking cessation advice, with onward referrals.
• Deliver NHS Health Checks after appropriate training.
• Chaperone patients as required.
• Organise domiciliary blood and BP visits under the supervision of the Nurse Manager.
• Assist with patient recall, restock clinical areas and order clinical stock.
• Manage vaccine cold-chain storage, monitoring and recording.
• Keep accurate patient records and communicate with patients, carers and the MDT
