We are looking for a compassionate and reliable Healthcare Assistant to join our team in London. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care and support to patients under the supervision of healthcare professionals. As a Healthcare Assistant, you will assist with daily activities, promote patient comfort and dignity, and help to ensure the smooth running of the care environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care to patients, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Support patients with mobility needs, helping them to move safely, whether in bed, in a chair, or when walking.
- Assist with feeding and ensuring patients receive appropriate nutrition, including help with meal preparation and feeding if required.
- Monitor and report any changes in patient condition, including changes in physical, emotional, or mental health.
- Help patients with daily activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, and recreational activities, promoting independence and dignity at all times.
- Assist healthcare professionals with medical procedures, including taking and recording vital signs (e.g., temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate).
- Provide companionship and emotional support to patients, ensuring they feel comfortable and valued.
- Maintain accurate records of patient care, including daily notes on any observed changes in condition or concerns.
- Help with the maintenance of a safe, clean, and organized environment, adhering to infection control and health and safety standards.
- Work closely with the nursing team and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient care is delivered effectively and efficiently.
- Assist in the transfer of patients, using proper manual handling techniques and equipment where necessary.
- Support patients in rehabilitation or therapeutic activities, as directed by the healthcare team.
Minimum Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant or in a similar healthcare support role is preferred but not essential.
- Passionate about providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and under the direction of healthcare professionals.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to interact with patients, families, and colleagues effectively.
- A positive, caring, and patient-focused attitude.
- Ability to assist with physical tasks, including lifting and moving patients safely.
- Willingness to undergo training and development to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Flexibility to work different shifts, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays, as required.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
