Job description

We are looking for a compassionate and reliable Healthcare Assistant to join our team in London. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care and support to patients under the supervision of healthcare professionals. As a Healthcare Assistant, you will assist with daily activities, promote patient comfort and dignity, and help to ensure the smooth running of the care environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide personal care to patients, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  2. Support patients with mobility needs, helping them to move safely, whether in bed, in a chair, or when walking.
  3. Assist with feeding and ensuring patients receive appropriate nutrition, including help with meal preparation and feeding if required.
  4. Monitor and report any changes in patient condition, including changes in physical, emotional, or mental health.
  5. Help patients with daily activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, and recreational activities, promoting independence and dignity at all times.
  6. Assist healthcare professionals with medical procedures, including taking and recording vital signs (e.g., temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate).
  7. Provide companionship and emotional support to patients, ensuring they feel comfortable and valued.
  8. Maintain accurate records of patient care, including daily notes on any observed changes in condition or concerns.
  9. Help with the maintenance of a safe, clean, and organized environment, adhering to infection control and health and safety standards.
  10. Work closely with the nursing team and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient care is delivered effectively and efficiently.
  11. Assist in the transfer of patients, using proper manual handling techniques and equipment where necessary.
  12. Support patients in rehabilitation or therapeutic activities, as directed by the healthcare team.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant or in a similar healthcare support role is preferred but not essential.
  2. Passionate about providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients.
  3. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and under the direction of healthcare professionals.
  4. Good communication skills, with the ability to interact with patients, families, and colleagues effectively.
  5. A positive, caring, and patient-focused attitude.
  6. Ability to assist with physical tasks, including lifting and moving patients safely.
  7. Willingness to undergo training and development to enhance skills and knowledge.
  8. Flexibility to work different shifts, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays, as required.
  9. Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
