Job summary

Locum Ready is seeking a Locum Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to support a GP practice in Lewes. The role suits a proactive HCA who can assist with routine clinical duties and patient care within a busy primary care setting.

You will help manage patient flow, perform observations, support treatment room activity and contribute to high-quality care delivery. A DBS check is required, and prior NHS/primary care experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience as HCA in primary care or NHS.
• Comfortable carrying out clinical observations.
• Ability to take BP, pulse, temperature and SpO2.
• Good communication and patient interaction skills.
• Basic IT skills for clinical documentation.
• Enhanced DBS clearance.

Responsibilities

• Performing observations including BP, pulse, temperature and oxygen saturation.
• Supporting with treatment room procedures.
• Phlebotomy and sample handling (if trained).
• Completing ECGs and assisting with routine patient assessments.
• Providing lifestyle advice and health promotion.
• Updating patient records accurately in the clinical system.
• Assisting clinicians with general tasks.

You will be part of an organised primary care environment where you will help manage patient flow, assist with core clinical duties and contribute to high-quality care delivery. The practice offers strong support and clear guidance to ensure every session runs smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

• Performing observations including BP, pulse, temperature and oxygen saturation
• Supporting with treatment room procedures
• Phlebotomy and sample handling (if trained)

Requirements

• Prior HCA experience in primary care or the NHS
