If you are an experienced Healthcare Assistant with a passion for making the patient journey as comfortable as possible we have just the role for you.

Working as a Health Care Assistant at Practice Plus Group Ophthalmology, Bamber Bridge, Preston you’ll provide support to the nursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of a high standard of care to patients in a safe and caring environment.This will involve working with our Ophthalmic Nurses in outpatients and theatre.

Above all, you have a natural ability to help make the lives of others more fulfilling and want to work in an environment where the work can be hard, but also fun and rewarding.

This role is for 37.5 hours per week across 4 days, travel to mobile sites across Preston, Lancashire, Manchester and Yorkshire will be part of the contract.Travel time and mileage will be paid - Shifts start at 07.30am.
Applicants would need a full and clean drivers licence andophthalmology experience would be preferred but is not essential.

What you'll be doing

To provide support to the nursing team and other members of the multidisciplinary team for the delivery of high standard care to patients, in a safe and caring environment.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the clinical staff in the promotion of efficient and effective use of resources.
  • To ensure treatment rooms are adequately stocked, tidy and fit for purpose.
  • Provide escort duties within the service as necessary at the discretion of the nurse in charge.
  • Participating fully as a team member sharing knowledge and information and therefore promoting a cohesive team.
  • Accurately record up to date information on records ensuring that the department is promptly informed of any changes.
  • Participate in the stock control and ordering of consumables within the clinical areas.
  • To recognise and understand the roles and responsibilities of individuals working in the team.
  • Respect privacy, dignity, needs and beliefs of patients and carers.
  • Act as a chaperone as and when required.

What we’ll look for in you

We are looking for someone who is willing to work hard, learn and develop in the role, but most importantly someone who understands the value of team work and a good work ethic.

The ideal applicant will have
  • You will have an NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care and be willing to undertake training to gain further clinical skills.
  • Experience or a good understanding of a HCA duties and responsibilities
  • The ability to receive and communicate information accurately and take instruction from professional colleagues.
  • The flexibility to fit into internal rotating shift pattern
  • Ophthalmology experience is preferred
  • A full and clean drivers licence
