Working as a Health Care Assistant at Practice Plus Group Ophthalmology, Bamber Bridge, Preston, you'll provide support to the nursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of a high standard of care to patients in a safe and caring environment. This will involve working with our Ophthalmic Nurses in outpatient settings and theatre.

Working as a Health Care Assistant at Practice Plus Group Ophthalmology, Bamber Bridge, Preston, you'll support the nursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care in a safe and caring environment. This involves working with Ophthalmic Nurses in outpatient and theatre settings.

This role is for 37.5 hours per week across 4 days. Travel to mobile sites across Preston, Lancashire, Manchester, and Yorkshire will be part of the contract. Travel time and mileage will be paid. Shifts start at 07:30 am. Applicants need a full and clean driver's license. Ophthalmology experience is preferred but not essential.

Main duties of the job

To support the nursing team and other members of the multidisciplinary team in delivering high-standard care to patients in a safe and caring environment.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist clinical staff in promoting efficient use of resources.
  • Ensure treatment rooms are stocked, tidy, and fit for purpose.
  • Provide escort duties within the service as necessary at the discretion of the nurse in charge.
  • Participate fully as a team member, sharing knowledge and promoting cohesion.
  • Accurately record up-to-date information and inform the department of any changes.
  • Participate in stock control and ordering of consumables.
  • Recognize and understand roles and responsibilities within the team.
  • Respect patient and carer privacy, dignity, needs, and beliefs.
  • Act as a chaperone when required.

  • An NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care and willingness to undertake further training.
  • Experience or understanding of HCA duties and responsibilities.

  • Ophthalmology experience is preferred.
  • A full and clean driver's license
