Job Title: Healthcare Assistant – SEND & Complex Needs
Location: Wolverhampton
Salary: £90–£100 per day (PAYE)
Hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday
Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term
Protocol Education is working in partnership with a Wolverhampton-based SEND school that provides specialist education and care for children and young people with complex needs, including profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), sensory impairments, and physical disabilities.
The school is seeking a compassionate and skilled Healthcare Assistant to join their dedicated team. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to make a significant difference in the daily lives of students who require personalised care, structure, and support in order to thrive.
Supporting pupils with medical and physical needs throughout the school day
Assisting with personal care, including toileting, changing, and feeding
Providing mobility assistance using hoists and other equipment (training provided)
Administering medication and supporting with tube feeding where appropriate
Collaborating closely with teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals
Creating a calm, safe, and structured environment for learning and personal development
Ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding and care at all times
We are looking for an individual with a caring, patient, and proactive approach who is comfortable working in a high-needs setting. You may already have experience in healthcare, care work, education, or social support roles.
Essential:
A calm and compassionate manner
Willingness to undertake personal care duties
Strong teamwork and communication skills
An understanding of safeguarding and health & safety protocols
Desirable (but not essential):
Previous experience in a SEND or PMLD setting
Healthcare or support qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care)
Manual handling or medication administration experience
