About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant / Support Worker to join the Primary Care team at HMP Risley, a category C prison located in the Risley area of Warrington. This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients and delivering outstanding care. HMP Risley has an operational capacity of around 1100 inmates and is a 20‑minute drive from Warrington and 30 minutes from Wigan.

Hours

This is a full‑time role, working an average of 37.5 hours per week. The role is mainly day shifts (including weekends) between 07:30 and 20:30, with one week of nights every five weeks.

Salary

This position is full‑time; you’ll receive an annual salary of £25,557 – £29,723 per annum, depending on experience.

What you’ll be doing

As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Ensure continuity of care for all patients and deliver outstanding care at all times
  • Work across all areas of care, including inpatients, clinics, primary care, health promotion, bloods, etc.
  • Respond to emergency situations as needed
  • Work holistically with your patients and other healthcare staff, including nurses, nursing associates, pharmacy, etc.
  • Deliver personalised, non‑judgemental care based on patient feedback
  • Contribute to, and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics
