Dumfries and Galloway Council is recruiting a Health and Social Care Support Worker to join the Reablement Team serving Castle Douglas and Dumfries. The role involves delivering personal care, practical daily tasks and supporting individuals to stay independent at home.

Applicants should hold a current driving licence; PVG scheme updates are required before a formal offer. The post includes shift patterns across meals and bed visits with a dedicated, empathetic team.

(2) You will be required to work 30 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year.

Band 5 £24,012.50 - £25,497.50

You will be required to work 24 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year.

Band 5 £19,210 - £20,398

The Reablement Team provide support to people in Dumfries and Galloway to remain in their homes, maintain their health and independence by providing appropriate support interventions. This post will sit as part of the Reablement Team linked to Home Teams and Discharge to Assess.

You will be part of a highly motivated team who promote recovery, independence and wellbeing through the principles of self-care and Reablement.

Working in blocks of hours on a shift pattern that covers breakfast, lunch, tea and bed visits, tasks include promoting, supporting or providing personal care, basic household tasks and practical day to day tasks that are necessary to ensure the person's physical well-being and management of the home together with reporting and recording observations concerning Service Users.

A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.

Requirements

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
