Job summary

Hargreaves Industrial Services Limited is seeking a Safety Manager to lead the Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) agenda across the Engineering Services business. You will develop strategies, maintain ISO certifications, and drive a proactive safety culture ensuring compliance on infrastructure projects and engineering activities.

The role demands senior leadership, experience with CDM, and strong communication to influence from site level to executive leadership, while delivering

Qualifications

• Significant experience in a senior health and safety leadership role within construction, engineering, infrastructure or industrial operations.
• CDM experience and strong knowledge of risk management.
• Experience implementing and maintaining ISO 45001 management systems.
• Proven experience leading audits, investigations and improvement programmes.
• Experience managing contractors and high-risk activities.
• Strong communication and influencing skills.
• Ability to engage effectively from site level through to executive leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of SHEQ strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality legislation.
• Maintain ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification.
• Provide technical safety leadership across engineering, maintenance and infrastructure activities.
• Drive continual improvement in operational safety performance, risk management and asset integrity.
• Support business growth while ensuring safety remains a core operational value.
• Develop and implement SHEQ improvement plans across all projects.
• Provide competent advice on safety, environmental and quality matters.
• Lead management of significant operational and engineering risks.
• Support nationwide projects where required.
• Influence behaviours to foster a positive safety culture.
