Job Description

I am currently looking for an H&S Manager for a Fit Out & Refurbishment Main Contractor based in South London, operating in and around London and the M25 area, with a current turnover of circa £30 million. Projects include refurbishment & fit out works within commercial and residential sectors, ranging between £2 to £15 million.

My client requires an H&S Manager who will be able to undertake the following responsibilities:

  1. Promote and ensure continued site-wide commitment to achieving consistently high standards in health and safety on the project.
  2. Advise site management & site staff on health and safety matters.
  3. Maintain the IMS to relevant ISO standards.
  4. Conduct site health & safety compliance inspections and audits.
  5. Assist in the production, monitoring, and review of method statements, risk assessments, and work package plans.
  6. Investigate accidents and incidents to identify root causes.
  7. Review company and subcontractors' compliance paperwork.
  8. Assist in the preparation of health & safety packs.
  9. Assist in the preparation of construction phase plans.
  10. Regularly review and update the project construction stage health and safety plan.
  11. Regularly review and update the project fire plan and traffic management plan.
  12. Promote behavioral safety initiatives with operatives and staff.
  13. Attend client health and safety meetings/forums as required.
  14. Undertake weekly updates to line management.

The ideal candidate must have:

  • NEBOSH Certificate in Construction Health & Safety.
  • Member of IOSH or equivalent.
  • Main contracting experience.
  • Multi-sector experience (residential, industrial, commercial, education, healthcare).
