Job summary

Red Sky Personnel Ltd is recruiting an experienced Health & Safety Manager to oversee safety across live water and civil engineering projects based around St Albans, with travel to project sites across the region.

You will run regular site visits and audits, review RAMS and Construction Phase Plans, provide practical HSE guidance to project teams, investigate incidents, and drive a positive safety culture on site.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Health & Safety Manager or Senior Health & Safety Advisor within construction, civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Strong experience across live construction sites.
• Water/utilities experience would be highly advantageous.
• A recognised Health & Safety qualification such as NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and construction regulations.
• Experience with audits, inspections, RAMS and incident investigations.
• The confidence to challenge unsafe practices and work collaboratively with site teams.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly between project sites.

• Ensuring projects comply with company procedures, legislation and client requirements.

• Identifying hazards, trends and areas for improvement across projects.
• Leading and supporting accident, incident and near–miss investigations.
• Monitoring subcontractor compliance and site working practices.
• Supporting toolbox talks, safety briefings and workforce engagement.
• Producing H&S reports and ensuring corrective actions are followed through.
• Working with project teams to drive continuous improvement and maintain a positive safety culture.

Health & Safety Manager Water / Civil Engineering

Location: St Albans & Project Sites
Sector: Water / Utilities / Civil Engineering
Position: Permanent

We are recruiting for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join an established civil engineering contractor delivering a portfolio of projects across the water and utilities sector.

The role will be based from St Albans, but this is very much a site–focused position, with the majority of your time spent visiting and supporting multiple live projects across the region.

Projects will typically be delivered under long–term water infrastructure frameworks, with individual scheme values generally around GBP1 million.

The Role

As Health & Safety Manager, you will work closely with project and operational teams to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and compliance are maintained across all sites.
