Job summary

GXO is seeking a senior QHSE Manager for its M&S site in Thorncliffe. You will lead the on-site QSHE and Facilities teams, ensuring legal compliance and a strong safety culture within a large, automated distribution centre.

You will report to the General Manager with a dotted line to Regional EHS, driving continuous improvement and engaging with GXO central functions and the customer.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading QHSE activity in warehouse/distribution/automated environments.
• NEBOSH General Certificate is essential.
• Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation and audit requirements.
• Confident stakeholder management with senior leaders and customers.
• Experience developing and leading teams with a collaborative style.
• Strong analytical, reporting and presentation skills driving improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead, drive and continually improve the QSHE culture.
• Champion GXO philosophy in health, safety and environment communication to create a best-in-class safety culture.
• Drive ownership of safety and wellbeing across the site.
• Develop, implement and maintain site safety policies, procedures and risk assessments.

• Develop and coach the on-site QHSE and Facilities teams, building capability and consistency.
• Monitor, analyse and report safety performance metrics, identifying trends and opportunities.
• Coordinate audits, inspections, contractor safety and business continuity planning.

Job Description Are you a confident QHSE leader who thrives in complex environments? Do you enjoy influencing at all levels and building a culture where everyone owns safety and wellbeing? Ready to take accountability for health, safety and environmental performance at a national distribution centre? GXO is currently recruiting a QHSE Manager to join our M&S site in Thorncliffe. This is a senior, site-based leadership role within a large, automated distribution centre, where you'll take full responsibility for all thing's health and safety at site and help push our road to zero campaign. Reporting to the General Manager, with a dotted line into Regional EHS, you'll lead the on-site QHSE and Facilities teams, working closely with GXO central functions and the customer to ensure legal compliance, continuous improvement and a strong safety-first culture.

This role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis, working Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:00 or 09:00 to 17:00, with flexibility required to support the operation - this is logistics after all.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Lead, drive and continually improve the QSHE culture

What you need to succeed at GXO:

• Proven experience leading QHSE activity within a warehouse, distribution or automated environment
• NEBOSH General Certificate in Health & Safety is essential
• Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation and audit requirements
• Confident stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and customers
• Experience managing and developing teams, with a collaborative leadership style
