Job summary

ScottishPower, part of the Iberdrola Group, is seeking a Health and Safety Manager in Glasgow. The role leads H&S policy development, drives a zero-harm culture, and partners with executives to improve safety performance across the renewables portfolio.

You will oversee H&S systems, reporting, and cross-functional coaching for a team of specialists, with a strong emphasis on data-driven improvements and stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

  • Degree level or equivalent required
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent required
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001/45003 and international safety standards
  • Clear understanding of value chain in renewable industry
  • Ability to influence at all levels and coach teams

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement health and safety policy and operating plan across the business.
  • Provide expert guidance to directors and senior leaders on strategy, compliance and performance.
  • Lead continuous improvement of the H&S management system for operations and construction.
  • Drive a proactive safety culture with audits, investigations, and training initiatives.
  • Oversee H&S reporting and dashboards, leveraging Power BI for insights.

**Job Title** Health and Safety Manager **Location** Glasgow **Salary from £66,000, up to 20% bonus, family health cover and car allowance** **Flexible Working Pattern** **Help us create a better future, quicker** Reporting to the Health & Safety Director (SPR) the main purpose of the role is to support the development and manage the implementation of the health and safety policy, strategy and agreed operating plan across the business. The overall aim is to achieve world class performance levels working in partnership with employees, contractors, customers, and members of the public. **What you’ll be doing** Develop strong relationships with stakeholders across the business, including Director and Executive level leaders, providing expert guidance on health and safety strategy, compliance, and performance. Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the health and safety management system, supporting both operational and construction activities. Drive a proactive safety culture focused on achieving zero harm through visible leadership, behavioural safety initiatives, audits, investigations, and continuous improvement programmes. Lead health and safety reporting, including the development of enhanced data insights and dashboards through Power BI and other reporting tools. Manage business improvement plans, budgets, and operational health and safety objectives, ensuring delivery against agreed targets. Work collaboratively with Occupational Health teams, government bodies, industry partners, and internal stakeholders to share best practice, while leading and developing a team of Health and Safety Consultants through coaching, objective setting, and performance support. **What you’ll bring** * Educated to degree level or comparable experience.* NEBOSH General Certificate level or equivalent.* Working knowledge of international safety standards and ISO 45001/ 45003* A clear understanding of the whole value chain and the key processes within the renewable industry.* Ability to operate and positively influence at all levels in the organisation and with external stakeholders.* Facilitation, mentoring and coaching skills.* Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health is desirable. **What’s in it for you** As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits.
