Job summary

Ciwmjobs in Ely seeks an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to lead the HSE culture across the business. You will develop and maintain the HSE management system, ensure compliance with UK legislation and drive improvements in safety and environmental performance.

Ideal candidates hold a NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6) or NVQ Level 6 and have 5+ years in precision engineering or heavy industry, with strong communication skills to influence at all levels.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6) or NVQ Level 6 in Occupational Health & Safety.
• CertIOSH or CMIOSH.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in precision engineering, manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
• Experience with CNC machinery and engineering processes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Environmental qualification such as IEMA – Desirable.
• Lead Auditor qualification for ISO 45001 – Desirable.
• Laser Safety Officer training – Desirable.
• Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 – Desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the Health, Safety and Environmental systems.
• Provide HSE advice to directors, managers and employees.
• Monitor legislation changes to ensure compliance.
• Lead Health, Safety Committee meetings.
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Deliver HSE inductions, training and awareness.
• Maintain Environmental Management System (ISO 14001).
• Lead environmental improvement initiatives: waste reduction and energy efficiency.
• Monitor environmental permits and legislation compliance.
• Promote safe working practices across the business.
• Support continuous improvement across HSE and Quality processes.
• Manage scrap, waste and environmental procedures.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and implement them.

Are you an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental professional looking for your next challenge within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment?

We are currently recruiting for an EH&S Manager to take responsibility for developing and maintaining a proactive Health, Safety and Environmental culture across the business.

Health, Safety & Environmental Manager Roles and Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continually improve the Health & Safety Management System, ensuring compliance with UK legislation and industry best practice
• Provide Health & Safety advice and guidance to directors, managers and employees
• Monitor changes to Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and ensure policies and procedures remain compliant
• Lead and chair Health & Safety Committee meetings, monitoring actions through to completion
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventative actions
• Plan and deliver Health & Safety inductions, training and awareness programmes
• Develop and maintain the Environmental Management System in line with ISO 14001
• Lead environmental improvement initiatives including waste reduction, recycling, energy efficiency and pollution prevention
• Monitor compliance with environmental legislation, permits and other relevant requirements
• Promote safe working practices and company standards across the business
• Support continuous improvement across Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality processes
• Ensure environmental procedures are maintained, including the management of scrap, controlled and special waste
• Identify opportunities for improvement and support their implementation

Health, Safety & Environmental Ideal Candidate

• NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6) or NVQ Level 6 in Occupational Health & Safety
