Health Safety & Environmental Enforcement Officer

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Health Safety & Environmental Enforcement Officer for a well-established organization based in Wokingham, Berkshire. The ideal candidate will possess or be working towards an Environmental Health qualification, with experience in food safety and health & safety enforcement, complemented by excellent organizational and negotiation skills.

Position Details
  • Salary: £30,559 - £49,764 per annum (depending on experience) + Benefits
  • Location: Hybrid role (partly in Wokingham office, partly remote)
  • Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
  • Hours: 37 hours per week
Job Responsibilities
  • Enforce Environmental Health legislation through statutory compliance inspections
  • Conduct compliance inspections, reactive investigations, and handle complaints
  • Gather evidence, prepare inspection reports, statutory notices, and schedules
  • Prepare prosecution reports and manage legal proceedings
  • At senior levels, oversee an Environmental Health Specialism
  • Engage with stakeholders and external agencies
Candidate Requirements
  • Possession of or working towards an Environmental Health qualification
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage workload effectively
  • Strong negotiation, persuasion, and influencing skills
  • Competence in Food Law and experience in food safety and health & safety enforcement within a local authority
