Overview of the role

Denholm Industrial Services is seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Advisor to join our expanding team. This role will be closely aligned with our Scaffold Access Divisions based in Birmingham and Runcorn, requiring regular travel between both locations to maintain a strong, consistent onsite presence.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the safe and efficient delivery of our scaffolding services by ensuring compliance with HSE standards, engaging with site teams, and driving positive cultural change. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining Denholm Industrial Services’ SHE policies and procedures, conducting inspections and audits, and providing expert advice across all levels of the business.

Role responsibilities

·Support organisational strategies to improve culture, compliance, and engagement

·Conduct audits and inspections across sites to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures

·Assist the HSEQ team in maintaining the Denholm document management system in line with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certification requirements

·Deliver in-house training sessions for managers and operatives where necessary

·Develop standard operating procedures, toolbox talks, reports, and safety alerts

·Provide expert guidance on a wide range of SHE topics including working at height, HAVs, fire safety, lone working, and more

·Stay up to date with changing HSEQ legislation and NASC guidance

·Investigate accidents and incidents, produce reports within our digital incident management system, and assign corrective actions

·Support the development of risk assessments including RAMS, COSHH, etc.

·Prepare and present weekly HSE monthly SHE performance updates to the management team and HSE Director

·Ensure scaffold and cradle equipment inspections are completed and logged appropriately

·Collaborate with the Project Director and HSEQ Director to ensure alignment of HSE strategies and initiatives

·Assist with the preparation and review of project-specific HSE documentation across both Scaffold Access Divisions

Skills and experience

·Minimum three years’ experience in a HSE advisory role, ideally within scaffolding, or

construction environments

·Experience with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 management systems (Internal/Lead Auditor qualification )

·Confident in data analysis and identifying trends

·Strong communication skills with the ability to engage operatives and senior stakeholders alike

·Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to influence and drive cultural improvements

·Excellent planning, organisation, and time management skills

·Ability to build cooperative working relationships across multiple locations

·Familiarity with Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
